At SEWA, we believe that “When you educate a girl, you educate the next generation”. Therefore, we feel that the right time has come for socially motivated individuals to strongly address this issue, and help girls enroll and stay in school and gain access to or create new educational, financial, and social resources for themselves and their communities. Connecting people has always been at the heart of SEWA. Connect with a child /girl so that they can make the optimum use of every moment. The programmes facilitated are as follows:
- Education for Children-, ‘SEWA Shikshan Kendra’ has been set-up in all the slum and resettlement colonies where SEWA Delhi works. These centres aim at imparting non-formal and supplementary education to the children of SEWA women members and to advocate for better education facilities.
Sponsoring one individual student is Rs. 6360 for a year.
- Vocational Educational ProgramIn Sundernagri, Rajiv Nagar, New Ashok Nagar and Mulla Colony, SEWA has undertaken activities that can help the young girls/women to have avenues for stable livelihoods, by improving employability through various vocational training programs focusing on both traditional and modern skill building, literacy classes and access to livelihood opportunities.
Sponsoring a child for computer training is Rs. 2250 for three months.
Sponsoring a child for training in cutting and tailoring is Rs. 4530 for six months.
- SEWA Delhi Polytechnic- Polytechnic serves as a step ahead of the vocational program and provides training to young girls and women who have acquired the basic knowledge and skill in a particular trade. Courses offered are Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Communication Design and Spoken English along with regular sessions on personality development, health and legal sessions.
Sponsoring one girl’s education at Polytechnic is Rs 9900 for six months.
- Education for young girls- The programme aims to link adolescent girls with National Institute for Open schooling and provide training in skill building to be eligible for better job opportunities through State Bank Academy, Gurgaon.
- Sponsoring one girl for doing 10th or 12th from National Institute of Open Schooling is Rs. 28680 for a duration of twelve months.
- Sponsoring one girl for attending training at State Bank Academy is Rs. 25320 for the entire duration of 11 months.
