SEWA’s experience of working with the underprivileged women testifies that most of their problems stem from the fact that they do not have basic education in life. This is due to two reasons: firstly, their families do not have enough earning member, secondly, the education of the boy child becomes more important than the girl child. Thus, there is a strong need for education in all the areas where SEWA Delhi is working.


Children’s Education

“SEWA Shikshan Kendra” has been set-up at five locations where SEWA is working. The purpose is to ensure quality basic education to the children between the ages 5 to 15 years that will not only transform them into productive members but will also make them socially responsible. SEWA Delhi also played an active role in linking students with Government Schools



Education for Adolescent Girls

Literacy classes are being conducted for adolescent girls and young women to enable them to have basic reading and writing skills, and we are also forming linkages with open schools.
